Start With “Hi!” – A Call to Action

lements Centre believes in a community in which all individuals are included, valued, and celebrated. Part of being valued is being included where we live, work and play. Inclusion is simple, but not always easy.

So start with something simple – “Start with “Hi!”

If you’re a retailer, bus driver, neighbour, letter carrier, bank teller, or community member, consider this our invitation. Start by saying “hi” to someone you see regularly who has a developmental disability. Who knows, a smile and a greeting might lead to a conversation and you may even find you have something in common. By reaching out – even with a “hi!” – You’re making your community safer and more inclusive for everyone.
