Chapter 2 – My influences
There are a lot of people in my life who I’m influenced by but the two main people in my life who really influence me are my mom and dad. They support me in anything that I want to do – even my career choice. When I want to try something new, they always tell me to go for it. Whenever I get discouraged, they always tell me to keep working at it until I get it right. I love having that support from them. It makes me feel good about what I do. I love both my parents so much and I know they love me too.
Another person who I’m very much influenced by is Reba Mcentire. I’ve loved her music since I was little. The reason why I love her so much is because of not only her voice – she has such a great personality and talent and she is not afraid to be herself. When I am feeling down, I listen to her music or watch her show to cheer myself up. I started watching her show when I was 5 years old. I love her sense of humour. Overall, Reba Mcentire is a great entertainer and person. I love her.
There are many artists that influence me, but there is one who really motivates me the most and her name is Taylor Swift. I love her because she is so down to earth and such a great singer-song writer who I can very much relate to and we both have so much in common. Like we play some of the same instruments, we’re both songwriters and we both sing. We also have some of the same issues in life. The other thing I love about her is that she loves cats just as much as I do. Her cat’s name is Meredith, named after Meredith Grey from Grey’s Anatomy which is both our favorite show. We have so much in common that I can’t fit it all in! Taylor Swift is my idol. I am so influenced by her and her music I’d like to meet her one day so I can thank her for everything she’s done for me in my life. I love Taylor Swift.
My last influence I’m going to talk about is one that I grew up with and her name is Dolly Parton. I’ve loved her since I was young. She’s one of the reasons I wanted to be in country music. She, like the other artists, is very talented and has a great sense of humour. Dolly starred in an episode of the Reba show. She was very funny – she even has a place in Nashville, Tennessee called Dollywood. She is also in the country music hall of fame in Nashville. She is one of country music’s biggest icons. One of my favourite songs from Dolly is her biggest hit Jolene. I think Dolly Parton is great at what she does. I love Dolly.
